2010 Band History
John Powell, Band Historian
Geneice Snow gets choked up as she tells members of the Old Dam Community Band how much their friendship and support has meant to her before band practice at Castle South Middle School in Paradise, Ind., on Tuesday. A series of medical conditions almost killed Snow and caused part of her right arm to be amputated. Snow, who learned the French horn because she could no longer play the flute, is a lifelong musician and has found a home within the band.

March 2, 2010 The Old Dam Community Band celebrated it's tenth anniversary with a 'late dessert' after rehearsal on Tuesday, March 2nd. The Band was founded on Leap Year Day 2000 but this is as close as we could come to the proper date! There were 59 band members present... the most we ever assembled... at the new Castle South Middle School in Newburgh... under the direction of Jerry Reese, CSMS Band Director. After a lively rehearsal, we adjourned at 8:30 to the school lunch room for a 'pitch-in' dessert buffet and coffee. There were several of our early conductors present... Jeff Westfall, John Patton, Carl Becker, and James Leslie. We continue to meet every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at Castle South Middle School.
